Jenna’s Model Life

Happy Endings

July 21, 2009 · 69 Comments

You, the 41 souls who clicked around this derelict blog since midnight yesterday, are the few, the proud, the hard core, the truly special, the early adopters, the late abandoners, and I salute you. Except you, dude who found me after Googling “Pose foto lingerie.” He can take his foto and phuck off.

In other words: I’m back.

I had bookmarked your blog ages ago (I don’t remember where I found a link) and subsequently read Jezebel daily. I read that this blog might very well be authored by Tatianna! I just saw the photoshoot and am so getting those bangs from your last photo. So much for growing them out.

    Hey Jenna,

Great to have you back online and out of the closet. I hope that now you’re a famous writer on the intertubes you’ll still have time for the odd story for us back in NZ.

PS. As soon as I got that first story through, I knew you were Tatiana, but it was fun playing along.

Jenna such an amazing article well done! how do i see your older stuff you have written for jezebel??

  • Marlboro Martini // July 22, 2009 at 2:53 am | Reply

Loved the work you have been doing on Jezebel for such a long time ESPECIALLY the Karen Mulder story ( I remember watching ma doc which revealed pretty much the same thing)!

Funnily enough I have a very good friend who used to model however decided to stop after her booker told her to lose some weight – she was already a US size 2 and verging on 6foot- and she should observe how the other girls do it, they were eating (and throwing up) a single orange a day- I think that was the clincher.

Anywhoo, well done your writing is great and I’m not just saying that. Also stop by my blog from to time…

I shall leave before this turns into an essay.

    Dear Jenna,

I’ve always loved your posts on Jezebel as Tatiana, and I’m so glad that you decided to de-anon yourself, if only for the fact that it led me here. I am now happily reliving my years in San Francisco and in the Mission via your old posts.

    Thank you. :)

I do hope you start up this blog again. The corner of the internets occupied by people who can write, and who know of what they speak is very very small.

Your Jezebel posts were great journalism. I’ve been happily sending people to the posts through my Twitter feed & blog and hope I can send them here now. LLGxx

Yes, yet another fan here by way of your Jezebel revelation. Excited to teach some of your posts in my politics of fashion course this fall (notably, the one about “fakes” and morality) and to read what else you might write in the future!

Good on you. I escaped the film business and lived. The feeling that the phone should be ringing doesn’t really ever leave, but if you let the battery run flat it’s less of a dilemma.

  • cassava // July 24, 2009 at 2:26 am | Reply

I guess that it was proven that there isn’t “an awful lot of models who are smart and good-enough writers to do what the Jezebel blogger does, and plenty who are also low enough on the fashion food chain for their on-the-side efforts to go unnoticed.”
    Congrats on all future endeavors!

  • kathleen // July 25, 2009 at 12:37 pm | Reply

Late to the party, I didn’t start reading you until recently. Not everyone in fashion does the popular culture thing and reads Jezebel. I work in the production side of the industry and blog about that. One of my visitors sent me a post you wrote about product development costs in plus sizes to which -being a topic near and dear to my heart and moreover, something I know quite a bit about- I had substantive disagreements with. I’ve yet to complete my response; edits are difficult with spittle on the monitor. Still, it was apparent to me, that unlike Any Other Blogger, you actually know something about the inner workings of the trade. Most pink pony fashion bloggers think life in the trenches of the fashion industry amounts to breaking a heel in a divot outside one of the tents .

It’s good to finally make your ecquaintance. As I’ve always said, the only people who think fashion models are stupid, are people who’ve never met fashion models.

All I can say is, I’m so happy for you that you’re beginning to find and head towards who you are and want to be, (or perhaps if i’m just making too many assumptions) i’m just happy that you’re getting chances to write and express yourself in the words that you shape so well!
