Los Angeles, it’s been great getting to know you. For a non-driver, you treated me well, even if certain of your carbound yokels honked and made unnecessarily pointed swerves as I traveled your bike lanes. I particularly enjoyed your tar pits, art, near-New-Zealand-grade beaches, climate, and doormen. Thank you also for allowing me to enjoy your sunshine while still preserving my blinds-passersby pallor. That was tops.

Los Angeles, you were lots of fun. But I’m gone now — back to cooler, NorCal climes. And, Mum: Though I was traveling on the Ides of March, I did eat breakfast with a Unitarian minister on his way to speak at a large Orange County war protest. I’ll make a point of joining a march or a vigil as soon as I can. It is saddening to think that the first Iraq war protest I participated in was a full five years ago, in Geneva. My friends and I (and, well, thousands of other people) bunked off from work and school and walked to Place Voltaire. It was exhilerating, and, I believed at the time, important. It’s difficult and frustrating to still be in the same position, half a decade on. What can I say? Don’t vote for the guy who wants a new 100 years war.

I have somewhat of an LA blog-hangover to work through. Check back for pictures and thoughts on the Museum of Jurassic Technology, skeevy male models, and my derelict financial situation. (I have go-sees with some large commercial affairs this week in SF: Cross your fingers.)

I’d rather not jinx it (and also my schedule’s never set until the last minute). But if you know which apparel companies are headquartered in San Francisco, you could make an educated guess, which I mightn’t contradict. I’m glad you like my blog!

I got in mild trouble with a security guard for climbing on the sculpture, but I think the shot I made my friend Nikos take was worth it.

If you’re going to San Francisco (be sure to wear a flower in your hair and) look up my friend Tam!

Uh, Albatross, this is going to sound weird. But: Do I know you? Are you in a position to be making personal friend referrals? Refresh my memory.

I sent you a link to her website via your About page comments (which you cleaned up). I thought you might be interested in meeting her since she is also a model as well as a dancer and writer, and a somewhat recent transplant to SF from Minnesota.

    Here’s her link again!

Yes, I remember the link, which you at the time asked not be published. So I checked out the site then deleted the comment so it wouldn’t clutter my Unapproved list.

I ask again: Do I know you? In real life? See it would be weird for me to rock up to your friend and say, This dude on the Internet who goes by Albatross told me to call you! Hi!

Yes, I preferred it that way, but as I was causing confusion I thought I’d just post it again and what the heck.

Just tell her Bob from the writing group said to say Hi, and I’d be happy to send her an e-mail introducing you. I just thought two Midwest expatriate models might have something in common to chat about, or she might have connections or something.

Just tryin’ to help! But you’ve got my e-mail, so I won’t clutter your comments up further. Let me know, I’d be happy to “e-introduce” the two of you.
